 Walter is a seasoned, technical sales consultant with a proven track record of accomplishments and success in Sales, Product Management and Technical Services.
Embarking on an independent career path in November, 2008, Walter secured multiple contracts with Blue Ocean Wireless of Dublin, Ireland, to provide direct sales representation throughout the Americas and to operate as an authorized distributor. His contracts with "BOW" were expanded to include channel management of new distribution partners and a variety of technical services including training installers, performing installations and repair of shipboard systems.
In March, 2010, Walter secured a formal agreement with Stratos Mobile Networks, Inc., and Stratos Communications, Inc. to operate as an authorized distributor. This relationship was complimentary to the Blue Ocean Wireless relationship, providing access to the Stratos Advantage suite of products and services which were offered to BOW customers and prospects.
In June, 2010, Walter secured a formal agreement with Artemis IT Solutions to operate as an authorized reseller of Clarity Managed IT Services. This relationship was complimentary to the Blue Ocean Wireless relationship, providing access to IT services which might be of interest to BOW customers and prospects.
Walter Kane is uniquely qualified to represent these companies and to sell their respective products and services. His background and experience include 16 years of service with Globe Wireless, the world's leading global maritime communications and IT solutions company. As Vice President of Sales (Americas), Walter directed and managed a team of regional sales and support personnel which serviced the maritime community throughout the Americas.
Prior to Globe Wireless, Walter had a distinguished career as a Radio Electronics Officer in the U.S. Merchant Marine and U.S. Coast Guard. He served on numerous merchant vessels, and received several awards including the National Defense Service Medal in the Vietnam War and the U.S. Merchant Marine Expeditionary Award for contributions supporting American and International Coalition military forces in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm in the waters of southwest Asia.
Indeed, Walter’s career in maritime communications spans more than three decades. In fact, it started with Morse code and flashing light communications. His current skills and industry knowledge include technical, consultative sales expertise for all maritime communication products and services including digital HF, maritime GSM wireless, Inmarsat and Iridium satellite services and shipboard VSAT technologies.
In recent years, remote offices on ships at sea have adopted broadband satellite systems, TCP/IP data communications, local area networks, routers, switches and firewalls, along with email clients and post offices, custom applications with data replication requirements and more.
Walter Kane and Associates have keep abrest of these developments and pursued the education, training and knowledge necessary to be of service to clients and customers.
IT Certifications
Mr. Kane recently studied and achieved CompTIA certifications for A+ and Network+
A+ is the industry standard for computer support technicians. The international, vendor-neutral certification proves competence in areas such as installation, preventative maintenance, networking, security and troubleshooting. CompTIA A+ certified technicians also have excellent customer service and communication skills to work with clients.
Network+ certification is the sign of a competent networking professional. It is an international, vendor-neutral certification that proves a technician’s competency in managing, maintaining, troubleshooting, installing and configuring basic network infrastructure.
Industry Certifications
Mr. Kane has received formal training and technical certification from Blue Ocean Wireless, Japan Radio Company & KVH Industries. These companies have authorized WJK3 to install, repair and maintain their respective Maritime GSM, Inmarsat Fleet Broadband and V7 VSAT systems on merchant ships.
Sales Certification
Mr. Kane received his certificate as CS (Certified Sales, ISO European norm EN45013) from Certified Marketing Services International (CMSI) on July 21, 1999. CMSI was the first company in the world to be accredited by the Dutch Council for Accreditation (RvA) to offer an International Marketing and Sales Certification program analogous to the highly regarded ISO 9000 program. The CMSI program grants certification to those individuals in Marketing and Sales who have reached certain achievement levels through experience and personal references, who have completed an authorized training program, and passed a comprehensive monitored examination.
